Black Ops 2. I won't be buying it. Neither should you.

November 8th 2010.
The day the WORLD was waiting in eager anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops. 11:30 pm struck and myself personally headed down to the local gaming store that was having a midnight launch. After the blockbuster hit that was Modern Warfare 2, my expectations for Black Ops were so high that no matter what, the game couldn't compare.

When i got my hands on the game and headed home, i couldn't wait to start it up and test out the different aspects of the game. When i started, my view of the gameplay was put off by my excitement. But as a few days dragged on i realised how poor this game really was. The general mechanics of the game paled in comparison to previous games and the ridiculo0usness of some of the weapons were just terrible. Like the claymore? It was almost impossible to even hear or dodge the trip sensitive explosive.

Treyarch lost a buyer for the next game they release and im sure they will lose others apart from myself.

FIFA Apology Rules!

FIFA Tournament with your mates? Make it more interseting with "Apology Rules".

These rules have been conjoured up by the FIFA community and spread through the FIFA 12 Apology Rules Facebook Page which can be found here !

First rule of FIFA, you lose and face the consequences!

Lose by the following and face up to the forfeit;
...
5 - Write a letter to your opponent praising them for their brilliance.

6 - You must act as though your opponent is God the next time you see him.

7 - You must make your opponent a certificate explaining how he beat you by seven goals and played so well.

8 - You must be the slave of your opponent for an hour.

9 - You write a letter to your family explaining how you have let them down and are an embarrassment to the family.

10 - You must send a Moonpig apology to your opponent explaining why it happened and how it'll never happen again.

11 - You write a letter to the queen explaining why your opponent deserves a knighthood.

12 - You must play the next game fully naked in the living room.

13 - You have to go to your next door neighbours and start describing the game in its full detail, minute, by minute and where fundamentally you went wrong, if they shut the door move on to the next house and pick up where you left off.

14 - The person must wear a custom t-shirt, designed by the winner, it must have on the back, " I lost by 14 on Fifa 12 " on the front, it can have what ever the winner desires. The loser must then walk around town explaining to 14 different people why they have lost so badly and get them to sign the t-shirt. A picture must then be uploaded to facebook with the T-shirt on for further abuse.

15 - You must send a letter to EA explaining in great detail why you lost by 15 goals and how they should make a special version of Fifa for people like you.

20 - You are not allowed to play FIFA 12, ever, ever, EVER again.

The rule that MY personal friends and I play is that we press the 'randomise' button 13 times, whatever team you land on, you keep. FOr instance i may get Real Madrid, while my opponent will get Nottingham Forest.

Another rule that we play is that you may only score 'jew goals' when you have the weaker or worse team.

FIFA Tournament coming tonight ! Stay Tuned !

Halo 4, the next trilogy begins when the world ends, 2012

To call yourself a "gamer" and not played and of the Halo games is just plain wrong. But, for all you no hopers that have missed out on arguably the greatest video game franchise of all time, you will get a chance to start your passion for the master chief by purchasing Halo: Combat Evolved which has been redeveloped for the newer consoles. Then, eventually come to playing the new blockbuster that is, Halo 4.

The trailer itself doesn't give away to much without exciting us geeks out there just a little. 343 Industries have cleverly release this trailer early to get all of us to go out and buy combat evolved and renew our passion, or catch up on what has happened in the world of 'Chief'. To see the trailer and find more information, click here.

What we know so far !

  • Release is set for late this year!
  • Not being made by Bungie, who made 1-3.
  • Cortana will feature
  • Master Chief will feature.
  • Cortana goes 'crazy'.
  • Once again, it will be the covenant against humanity.
  • It remains to be seen whether the Elites will feature on the side of humanity, but i think its safe to say they will.
  • In the the trailer Master Chief seems to be more lightweight and lighter on his feet, but this is probably due to the fact he is in space, but still is an interesting observation.
Stay tuned to this blog for more information on up coming games!

Quade Cooper vs Ranga in FIFA 12!

For months and months, the wallabies and queensland reds superstar has been playing all of his twitter followers and few have prevailed, and last night i was given the opportunity to verse him. It was extremely late, but however i didnt want to miss the opportunity to whoop his arse.

When he tweeted me back, i got the feeling of uncontrollable excitment, that I was finally getting the chance to verse someone of his stature. Twitter has become a new link between famous, and average joes.
When the match started, my hands were sweating and i struggled to hold the controller and had goosebumps running up and down my body, and i started really well.

As the first half rolled on Quade gained more momentum and had a lot of chances to break the deadlock. But, my defence held strong.
As we got into the second half, his players became more fatigued and then i started getting my own opportunities.  I came close with a strike from ramires, but it was pushed wide by Iker Casillas.
As the game drew to a close, I had a chance close range with drogba, but i hit the post and it was cleared by Sergio Ramos.
The game drew closer and closer to the end and it seamed like a stalemate that was going no-where.

When the whistle went for fulltime i was hoping he would want to verse me in a rematch. Which he did, and to my delight we both picked the same teams me, being Chelsea and Quade being Real Madrid.

In the second match Quade seemed to be playing a better type of game and risking his hand more. Just before the first half he scored with a reletively simple goal with Mesut Ozil and he led the game going into the break.

The second half rolled around and i started to come closer and closer to that elusive goal that i so desperatley wanted. When i finally struck that pot of gold through the form of ramires.

My celebration was so loud it woke my entire family up at around midnight. The game finished and the result was still undecided in regards to who the better player was.

The next day i woke up to a tweet from Quade stating "Play this guy at fifa hes very good. Shall play tomorrow sir we need a reult."

We still, havent had that final match. More to come!

Assassins Creed 3, on its way!

You like being the stealthy guy? Sneaking up on enemies? Lurking in the shadows? Then you should be getting excited for Assassins Creed 3 now! The trailer has instilled a fresh feeling in the series and is leaving all the fans wanting more from ubisoft. Here's the trailer!
So far we know that:
  • Its in North America.
  • Its in the 18th Century.
  • Its during a period when the americans were fighting the british.
  • A new character.
  • Whole new storyline from Ezio and Altair.
  • It will be on 360, PS3 and PC.
  • Looking like a late October release date.
The long running series is sure to have fans mouths watering, and it will be a long wait for the diehard fan.

So, for now we wait until the next piece of juicy info is released!

Sim City. A New Era in Gaming!

Sim City 5 is finally confirmed! But, there's a catch. The 5th installment of the epic series wont be released until next year at the least. With the announcment and a trailer, it leaves us wondering why so early? Maybe because there has been a long time between drinks and EA just want to give us little sips from the water bottle that is Sim City. If you havent seen the trailer, here it is.

With previous editions being reasonably good games, this game will have astronomical expectations, and the trailer only heightens those expectations.

One down point of the trailer is at the end it says "images not representative of actual gameplay" so it leaves us with a bitter taste in our mouth, for now.

On the upside the detail in the trailer gives hope that some of the detail will be carried into the game itself, but i'll reserve my judgment until then.

With no confirmation on whether or not the game will make it too consoles or just PC's. But one thing is for sure, it will be a masive seller for EA and only time will tell us other information about the game!

Have you ever tried to figure out why they leave it so long in between games? The answer is to build that 'need' for a new game. Thats what EA has done here, and doing a great job at it as well.

FIFA Street is almost here!

One of EAs most anticipated games of the year, FIFA Street is almost upon us! And in typical EA fashion they have released a demo to get our mouth watering at the prospect of buying the game. But, have they done a decent job compared to its predeccessor?

Source: EA Sports.

We'll start with what the core game provides. At the moment EA Creative Director Gary Patterson has told us there is FIVE game modes which include 5-a side, Panna Rules, Futsal, Last Man Standing and Custom Match. All of those are explained in the preview i've linked in above. But basically, 5-a side is five players on one team 4 on the field and one keeper. And the two new additions are Futsal and Last Man Standing. Futsal is 5 a side competition that has no outs and is similar to the original 5 a side. And last man standing is a game mode taht when a goal is scored against your team you lose a player. And whoever loses all of their players first loses the game.

Patterson has also gone on to explain a few other aspects of the game such as World Tour, in which you and your team travel around the worl in a conquest for world domination in the shorter form of the game. This mode will add to the longevity of the game, and in the end give players more reasons to buy it.

The graphics engine is similar to the one used in FIFA 12, however that is a major upgrade on the original FIFA street which had a "cartoon" like feel and wasn't taken seriously in the 'football gamers' world.

The Demo for FIFA Street has been released and is available for a free download now on Xbox 360 Marketplace and PSN. Get downloading and share your opinons on how you think the final prodcut of the game will turn out!

Modern Warfare 3, Game of the year or not?

It was hyped as the biggest game of the last few years, and it didnt dissapoint! It involved the player like no COD game has before, and still managed to have the integrity of game the Infinity Ward is known for.

We'll start with the all important campaign. While it had that expected cinematic aspect and blockbuster moments, it really lacked in a storyline. To understand the plot, you would have to have a relatively good idea of what has happened in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare world of the las couple of games. For instance, the COD 4 references that are constant throughout would be irrelevant and not make sense to new players. However in saying that, if you have played the two previous games then you are in for a treat with the remaining aspects of the campaign. Unique ways to play the campaign and invent new interest in the campaign. New killstreaks, types of enemies, surprising moments and strange events all make this campaign a treat for the casual gamer. And even for the more "intense" gamer like myself the difficulty of the campaign is a test and shouldn't be taken lightly. All in all, the campaign shouldn't be missed and for anyone who is has even the smallest interest in gaming, should play it.

On to the "Spec Ops" side of the game. This year, IW introduced the new "Survival Mode" along with the traditional "Spec Ops Missions". This has added a whole new dimension to the game itself, even though it is incredibly similar to Treyarchs "Zombies". This feature will lengthen the shelf life of an already lengthy game, which can only do good for sales. The mode itself is a continuation of facing wave after wave of enemies, that increase in strength and size of numbers in each wave. The spec ops missions provide great interaction with friends in the coop mode and allow communicationa dn team work to be a crucial factor in the success or failure of certain missions. The same can be said about survival mode.

Now onto the all important multiplayer online section. This is without a doubt one of the best multiplayers that and COD has produced and maybe even the best online for first person shooter games. The different types of playlists have great variety and include some fan favourites and new games that will interest the usual gamers. Some are Search and Destroy, Team Deathmatch and new ones such as drop zone or infected. The weapons and perks are all pretty well balanced, not including the ridiculous fire power of akimbo FMG's. I'm hearing word that the team over at IW are planning to patch that ASAP, lets hope!

All in all, the game is definitely a game you should buy if your looking for a game to give you some decent playing time and greast gameplay. Whether or not it is game of the year or not, its tough to say, but i'm going to have to say no. Only because there are a lot of great games that have come out this year and some are better plays then others. I give it four out five !
